Charlotte is a Jersey Advocate and qualified English barrister. She has over 15 years’ experience acting for private clients and the local financial service companies who administer wealth structures. She also has a background in general commercial and regulatory legal work.
Up until 2015 she was an equity client director of a well-respected independent trust company, and before that she was a senior member of the International Private Wealth Team at Mourant Ozannes.
She has specialised in corporate and private client work since qualifying. She advises on all issues and transactions affecting private trusts, employee benefit trusts, employee share schemes, Jersey and Panamanian foundations, UK and Jersey pension schemes, Jersey property unit trusts, private funds and corporate finance structures.
She has acted in a number of trust beneficiary disputes, either acting for the trustee or for one or more of the beneficiaries. She has also undertaken work in the Family Division and advises trustees and beneficiaries on matrimonial disputes involving trusts.
She advises local trust companies and fund service companies as to their regulatory obligations under the Financial Services law, the Codes of Practice and the Proceeds of Crime law.
More recently, she has been helping local charities understand their obligations under the new Charities law as well as advising them on making changes to their constitution and drafting their policies and procedures.
